Hello
Please continue to vote for me in the Creative 30 competition.  You have until Sunday night (16th November '08) to register your votes!
Thank you so much for those folks who have been voting already, I appreciate your support.
Helen

I have been nominated in a national competition, and I need your help to win.

VICE, Volvo, The Independent and Yahoo! have teamed up on a project called Creative 30 which aims to find and celebrate thirty of Britain’s most promising young creative people.

Please vote for me in this competition, by visiting www.creative30.net from Monday October 20th to November 16th, and clicking on my profile picture, then the ‘VOTE’ button beneath my profile.

There is a short film on the site, about my art practice, which you might find interesting.  The prize for the people’s choice is a Volvo, and there is also a prize for the judges’ choice, of £10,000.  You can vote as many times as you like, but only once per day. Thanks for your support!

I have had a photograph selected in a competiton partnered by the Tate Modern, Flickr and Blurb.
Participants were invited to submit two photographic urban portraits under the heading 'Street and Studio' and 100 winners were picked to be shown in a slideshow in the Tate Modern until August 31st, and then the pictures will be published in a photo book.
The judges were Juergen Teller, Ute Eskildsen and
Heather Champ.

The photo is called Jess, Jake and Ade jump in Redcar and was taken in March this year on Redcar beach with a Lomo Supersampler camera.
I have recently added some new paintings on paper and fine art prints to my exhibition with PicassoMio.com
which are an excellent purchase if you want some affordable, original art.

Three Venues: Leeds Design Innovation Centre, Tonic Art Space at LGI, and The Carriageworks.

2 - 28 June 2008 : Coming soon

Leeds Bradford Imprint 2008 is an exhibition of contemporary printmaking by artists from the Leeds and Bradford area of West Yorkshire. All prints are for sale and commission charged goes to charity, raising funds for The Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

The Opening and Private Viewing is on June 11th at the Tonic Gallery, at LGI.

The exhibition is split over three venues:
Tonic Art Space, at Leeds General Infirmary, Great George Street Entrance. LS1 3EX.
The Carriageworks: The Electric Press, Millennium Square, Leeds LS2 3AD.
and The Leeds Design Innovation Centre: 46, The Calls, Leeds LS2 7EY.

I have now uploaded quite a few new paintings to the paintings gallery.

All of them were completed in the last 3 to 4 months, and are acrylic or mixed media on canvas.  I have been hoarding lots of old photos and picture books, and they have inspired some of these new paintings, whereas others are of the creepy-psychedelic-pop-art variety that those of you who know my previous work will be familiar with.

I am still in my studio working on more new paintings, and I plan to start looking for somewhere to exhibit pretty soon.

At the moment, 2008 finds me in my studio, working on a whole new body of work... watch this space.

It is held at The Light shopping centre, The Headrow, Leeds, and runs from Wednesday November 29th until 2pm Sunday 2nd December.  Support your local artists and come and buy something!

I have just uploaded six new paintings to my 'painting' gallery.
